Why Is Benicar Dangerous?

Posted on 05/08/2015Back

Benicar is a popular blood pressure medication manufactured by the Japanese pharmaceutical company Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. It has proven effective at lowering blood pressure and is one of the most prescribed blood pressure medications in the country.

However, recent research has linked Benicar and several similar medications to a range of serious gastrointestinal disorders. As such, many victimized patients are filing suit against Daiichi Sankyo for injuries suffered from Benicar’s dangerous side effects. GoldenbergLaw’s drug injury lawyers are handling many of these cases on behalf of Benicar victims.

Benicar and the related drugs Azor and Tribenzor can damage the portions of your intestines that break down and process nutrients. Without these “intestinal villi,” food and drink pass through your system too quickly and do not provide your body with the proper nutrients.

This condition is known as “sprue-like enteropathy,” and in certain cases, it can prove fatal. Commonly misdiagnosed, sprue-like enteropathy can cause:

  • Dehydration
  • Malnutrition
  • Severe, chronic diarrhea
  • Rapid, unhealthy weight loss

GoldenbergLaw is accepting cases from users of Benicar, Azor and Tribenzor who have been diagnosed with sprue-like enteropathy or have suffered severe, chronic diarrhea (at least 10 times a day for at least three months) and been hospitalized for the condition.

If you believe you’ve been victimized by Benicar, our drug injury attorneys are happy to answer your questions and determine if you have a viable claim. We handle cases from across the country. Please call GoldenbergLaw at 612-436-5026 or contact us online for a free consultation.
