Preventing Motorcycle Accidents in Minnesota

Posted on 03/10/2015Back

GoldenbergLaw’s Minnesota motorcycle accident lawyers always urge motorcyclists to take simple precautions to protect themselves and reduce the risk of accidents. However, often times the greater danger to motorcyclists is other drivers who fail to properly share the road.

As a motorcyclist, you can do everything right and still suffer catastrophic injuries in an accident that wasn’t your fault.

As such, we urge drivers of larger, traditional vehicles to take the following steps to reduce the risk of accidents with motorcycles:

  • Always be on the lookout for a motorcycle. They can be hard to spot, even when being operated legally, so make sure there’s no motorcycle in your blind spot when changing lanes.
  • Share the road safely and courteously. Don’t try to blow past a motorcycle or use your size to gain some small amount of road.
  • Take the usual precautions before hitting the road- check your mirrors, make sure your tires are properly inflated and ensure your brakes and steering are fully operational

If we all drive reasonably we can make Minnesota’s roads safe for every sort of vehicle.
