May Is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month
According to the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration, May 2014 has been designated National Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. That makes this a particularly good time to reflect on the difficulties motorcyclists face, the potentially lethal danger of motorcycle accidents, and the importance of making a special effort to notice motorcycles on the road.
The good news, according to the NTHSA, is that many motorcyclists are doing their part to increase safety. Between 2005 and 2009, motorcycle helmet usage increased 19 percentage points to 67 percent.
However, GoldenbergLaw’s Minnesota motorcycle accident lawyers understand that all the safety steps in the world can’t fully protect a motorcyclist from a negligent driver. Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month is an excellent opportunity for car and truck drivers to re-dedicate themselves to checking for motorcycles behind and beside them.
By doing so, these vehicle operators make a meaningful commitment toward sharing the road responsibly. In combination with an increased emphasis on personal safety among motorcyclists, this commitment will make our roads a safer place for everyone.
If you’re a motorcyclist in Minnesota and you’ve suffered an injury as a result of an accident caused by another driver’s negligence, you should speak to our lawyers immediately. Please contact GoldenbergLaw today for a free consultation.
