Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) has issued a voluntary recall of numerous dry conditioner and dry shampoo products due to potential benzene contamination. Benzene is a known carcinogen, which means that exposure to the substance can cause cancer, especially with repeated exposures.
The benzene shampoo recall affects these brands*:
- Aussie
- Hair Food
- Herbal Essences
- Old Spice
- Pantene
- Waterless

At this time, P&G has not heard from any consumers who have had their cancer diagnoses linked to the use of these products. However, the company is still instructing consumers to discontinue the use of affected products immediately.
Don’t Toss Out Your Shampoo Just Yet
Although P&G recommends that you discard the recalled product and contact them for a refund, you should not do so right away. If a product liability lawsuit or consumer class action forms against P&G for selling possibly-carcinogenic haircare products, then the product and its packaging might be the most useful evidence you have to take legal action, too.
Our class action attorneys of GoldenbergLaw are hearing from people nationwide about their experiences with P&G conditioners and shampoos that might have been contaminated with unsafe levels of benzene. We are asking anyone who thinks they might have a case to reach out to our firm as soon as possible. You do not need to have been injured by the product to qualify for compensation in some class action lawsuits.
When you contact GoldenbergLaw about your benzene shampoo claim, please:
