St. Paul Woman Sues Over House Explosion
The owner of a St. Paul home destroyed by a natural gas explosion and fire is suing Xcel Energy and its contractor, Quanta Services.
Trista Meehan is seeking unspecified damages in excess of $50,000 in her suit against the two parties. Meehan's home was destroyed on February 1st. She and a plumber were inside at the time of the explosion and they considered themselves lucky to get out alive.
An investigation revealed that a gas line running past Meehan's home had been, years earlier, bored directly through her sewer line. When the sewer line clogged, her plumber used a snake-like clearing tool and inadvertently punctured the gas line, setting off the explosion.
